Frequently Asked Questions

Switzerland eSIM: frequently asked questions

What is the best eSIM for Switzerland?

One that works where you’re going. The BeachSIM Switzerland eSIM covers Zurich and the other main destinations, connects to another local network if one isn’t available and includes hotspot sharing.

Should I buy a SIM card at Zurich airport or an eSIM?

With an eSIM you skip the airport queue and you’re online as soon as you land. You also know the price upfront.

When should I buy and install my Switzerland eSIM?

As early as possible. Your eSIM arrives instantly by email, so install it the moment it arrives. When you land, switch it on and turn on data roaming.

Does the eSIM work in the mountains?

In the ski resorts, valleys and on the main routes, yes. High up in the mountains and in long tunnels the signal can drop, which is true for every network.

Does EU roaming work in Switzerland?

No. Switzerland isn’t in the EU, so the EU “roam like at home” rule doesn’t apply. Many home plans charge extra for Switzerland. With this eSIM you pay once and know your costs upfront.

Can I make calls with the Switzerland eSIM?

It’s data-only, so there’s no local phone number. Make voice and video calls through your messaging apps, which stay linked to your usual number.

Can I share my data with other devices?

Yes, hotspot sharing is included, so you can share your data with a tablet, laptop or a travel companion’s phone.

Is there an unlimited Switzerland eSIM?

Our plans have fixed amounts of data, up to 25GB. If you use a lot of data, choose the largest plan.

Is my phone compatible?

Most iPhones from the XS/XR onwards and many recent Android phones support eSIM. Your phone must also be network-unlocked. Tip: dial *#06#. If an “EID” appears, your phone supports eSIM.
