Your phone may already support eSIM, even if you have always used a physical SIM card. Before buying mobile data for your next trip, check your device. You might be able to get connected without swapping a card.
And whichever option suits you, your next holiday does not have to mean another SIM purchase. BeachSIM’s reusable data SIM cards and eSIMs can be topped up with new packages for future trips.
Is my phone eSIM compatible?
Start with our eSIM compatibility checker. Enter your exact phone model and read any regional notes shown with the result.

Type your phone model and select the exact match. Check the regional notes before buying.
Using a physical SIM today does not mean your phone cannot use an eSIM. However, support can vary between regional versions of the same model, and your phone must be network-unlocked to use BeachSIM.
If your model is not listed, try these checks or ask our team for help.
How to check eSIM compatibility on your phone
1. Look for an eSIM option in Settings.
- iPhone: Settings → Cellular, Mobile Data or Mobile Service → Add eSIM.
- Samsung Galaxy: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM.
- Google Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM → Set up an eSIM.
Menu names vary. On other Android phones, search Settings for “eSIM”.
2. Check for an EID number.
Enter *#06# in your phone’s dial pad. On many devices, an EID indicates eSIM capability. An IMEI number alone does not confirm support. If no EID appears, check your device specifications or contact us before buying.
3. Confirm that your phone is unlocked.
On an iPhone, open Settings → General → About. Look for “No SIM restrictions” beside Carrier Lock or Network Provider Lock. For Android, ask the network that supplied your phone if you are unsure. A network lock can prevent another provider’s SIM card or eSIM from working.
Travel eSIM or physical SIM: which is better?
Choose a travel eSIM if your phone is compatible and you prefer digital setup. Install it using your setup instructions, without waiting for a physical card or opening your SIM tray. On supported dual-SIM phones, your usual SIM can stay installed.
Choose a travel SIM card if your phone does not support eSIM or you prefer a removable card. Check that your phone has a suitable SIM slot and allow time for delivery before departure.
Both options can provide mobile data abroad. The better choice depends on your device, destination and preferred setup.
Is a travel SIM card or eSIM worth it?
A travel data package gives you an allowance for maps, messaging, bookings and other essentials without relying entirely on Wi-Fi. It can also help you manage spending abroad.
Compare the package price, data allowance and validity with your home network’s roaming offer. If roaming is already included for your destination, you may not need an additional plan. Also check hotspot support and whether ordinary calls and SMS are included if you need them.
Buy once, top up and travel again
BeachSIM’s reusable data options mean you can prepare for your next trip without starting again.
- Physical data SIM card: Keep your existing card and top it up with a supported package for your next destination. There is no need to replace it for every trip.
- Data eSIM: Keep it installed on the same phone, add a supported package and turn the BeachSIM line on when travelling. Switch it off between trips rather than deleting it.
Use the BeachSIM App to check usage and available top-ups. Turning the line off does not necessarily pause a package’s validity, so check its dates and activation terms.
Bought a BeachSIM data SIM card or installed a BeachSIM data eSIM for a previous trip? You can reuse it by adding a supported package for your next destination.
